Every voice tool on the market promises the same thing: talk instead of typing. The difference shows up an hour later, when you look at what you actually have to do next.

Here's the short version, then the detail.

What each one is built to do

ToolCore jobWhat you get after
OtterTranscription and live captionsA transcript and a summary
GranolaMeeting notes on desktopCleaned-up notes against your own typing
VoicenotesPersonal voice memorySearchable notes and simple rewrites
AgentsyCapture then draftMinutes, emails, tasks, calendar entries and documents

Where the gap opens up

A transcript is not an outcome. It never has been. If you record a listing appointment, a client call or a site walk, the transcript is raw material, nothing more. Somebody still has to write the follow-up, log the actions and book the next meeting.

That's the part Agentsy takes on:

  1. You capture, by talking, typing or having a conversation with Agentsy.
  2. Agentsy transcribes, cleans it up and works out what it means.
  3. It drafts the follow-up email in your own account, writes the tasks, and proposes the calendar entries.
  4. You check it and send.

Transcription quality

All four are good enough at plain speech in a quiet room. Accents, crosstalk and industry vocabulary are where they properly separate, and honestly, you should test all of them on your own recordings before deciding. We won't claim a number here that you can't verify yourself.

Desktop or phone

Granola is desktop-first, which suits back-to-back video calls. Agentsy is built for the phone in your pocket first, with the same folders waiting at your desk, which suits anyone whose day happens between doors.

The test that matters is not "did it hear me". It is "how much of my evening did it save".

Where the others are the better choice

Be sceptical of comparison posts written by one of the four in question. So, plainly:

  • If all you want is a fast, cheap transcript of a Zoom call, Otter is hard to beat.
  • If your whole day is video meetings on a laptop and you like typing your own notes, Granola fits that shape better.
  • If you want a private, tidy memory of your own thoughts with nothing else attached, Voicenotes is simpler than Agentsy.

Agentsy earns its place when the work after the conversation is the expensive part.

Try it on one real day

Pick a day with a couple of meetings and a drive between them. Capture everything. At the end of the day, look at what's sitting in your drafts folder.
